Love God, Serve God, everything is in that – St. Clare of Assisi
We wish to thank all of our many volunteers who make St. Clare of Assisi the
active and friendly parish family we are so proud of.
We recognize these individuals who are our Volunteers of the Month and thank
them for their dedication to the ministries they serve.
January Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to John Valle, our January Volunteer of the Month! While John is a Knight of Columbus and supportive of the many activities the organization engages in; it is his commitment to at first loading and now driving our St. Clare truck to Barber bringing our things to celebrate Mass, that we would like to show our appreciation for. Thank you, John, for selflessly giving your time to our parish!
February Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to Sally Vandenbos, our February Volunteer of the Month! Sally is a valued member of a number of our ministries. She devotes her time with St. Vincent de Paul, is a Eucharistic Minister, Money Counter, Sacristan, and a member of the Divine Mercy Cenacle. Also, Sally and her husband generously donate bagels to some of our ministries to support their outreach. While the listing is long, her dedication to the mission of these ministries is equally treasured. Thank you Sally, for generously sharing your time and talents with our parish!
March Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to Maria, our March Volunteer of the Month! Maria is an Altar Server at our 4:30 Saturday Masses. She is a responsible server who helps guide the other children during Mass. Maria is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic school, where she received her Altar service training and passion for service. Her favorite subject is literature, she attends Harrison High School where she enjoys running cross country, lacrosse, and playing the violin. She says “I’m not sure what the future holds for me just yet, but I do know that God and service will be a part of it.” Thank you, Maria, for sharing your love of service with your St. Clare parish family!
Congratulations to Bear Bryan, our April Volunteer of the Month! Bear has consistently volunteered in many of our ministries over the years. He counts our weekly donations, helps to collect and package food for St. Vincent de Paul, Ushers at our Masses and is a Knight of Columbus member who devotes many hours participating in their activities. Thank you Bear for helping our parish in so many ways.

Rey and his children are Ushers for the Sunday Spanish Mass and generously give of their time by helping our parishioners each week as they gather to celebrate mass. Estela is a catequista in our Parish School of Religion guiding our youth as they grow in their faith. Together, on the 1stSunday of the month, Rey and Estela provide the music for the Sunday noon mass.
We are so grateful to this family who not only prays together but serves together. Thank you to the Mendoza family for being a great example of stewardship and for sharing your talents with St. Clare’s.
June Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to Marci Lea, our June Volunteer of the Month! When she is not spending her time at her children’s soccer or lacrosse games, Marci is generously serving Our Lord and St. Clare’s. She is a member of the Parish Council, the Giving Tree and Hospitality ministries, a Lector, and a small group leader of Women’s Bible Study. And she is always there to help out with our many activities that need an extra hand. Thank you, Marci, for reminding us that service and sharing our gifts and talents that God has given us is the true expression of our faith.
July Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to Renee Ponce, our July Volunteer of the Month! Renee is responsible for getting our bulletin published each week and has created a bulletin for us that is informative and attractive. We appreciate the time she spends gathering our announcements and designing our bulletin. And because, like so many of our volunteers who serve the Lord with humility and not for glory, we understand how difficult it is for Renee to put this in the bulletin! She is also a Sacristan, Parish Council member and the wife of Deacon in Formation Igor, all of which claim her valuable time. Thank you, Renee, for always greeting us with a smile and a hug and being a generous member of our parish family.
Congratulations to Keith Zgonc, our August Volunteer of the Month! Keith joined the Knights of Columbus during the mission’s first year and is now the Grand Knight of our Council 15996. Since 2014 he has volunteered to unload the parish truck EVERY Sunday morning to prepare for Mass, usually at 7:30 am. Keith also greets parishioners before Mass, Ushers, returns many times to re-load the truck, assists with directing traffic & parking, setting up equipment, rectory cleanup, etc. etc. Keith places the needs of others first; he is a wonderful example of true stewardship of St. Clare’s. Thank you!
