The Giving Tree Ministry serves the less fortunate in our Acworth community during the Christmas Season. This past year was our first year and with the generous help from our parishioners we provided gifts for over 20 families and several individual children. We also partnered with our St. Clare PSR children and provided “stocking stuffer” filled shoe boxes for everyone as well.
We established a steering committee that will once again meet at the end of the summer to plan for the 2016 Christmas Season. Volunteers are needed for several aspects including organizing, shopping and distributing of gifts. We also need experts in Excel to handle the complicated in-flow of information (family members, needs, sizes, etc).
Our current meeting place is the conference room at the Kennesaw Public Library. We are looking for a larger meeting area and also a storage facility where we can gather and organize the gifts.
If you feel that you can help this ministry in any way and would like to volunteer your time please call me at 678-492-8486 or contact me – email@example.com
Thank you and may the angels watch over you!
If you or your family are in need of assistance to make the Christmas holiday a happier one, please contact us at this separate email address – firstname.lastname@example.org and be assured your request will remain confidential.
THE TREE IS COMING! THE TREE IS COMING!
Brighten someone’s Christmas morning!
Next weekend the Giving Tree Ministry will have a Christmas tree set up in the narthex of St. Theresa’s on Saturday and Barber middle school on Sunday. The tree will be decorated with ornaments crafted by our PSR students. Each ornament will contain a different Christmas wish for a person in need. The desired items are listed specifically on the ornaments. Our parishioners are welcome to gather one or more ornaments and fulfill those wishes with the gifts that are requested. We will also have a special Children’s Giving Tree available this year, specifically for our children wanting to participate in the Giving Tree. They can pick up a pink or blue stocking ornament off the tree and donate a $5 or less stocking stuffer for a girl (pink) or boy (blue). All unwrapped gifts with the original ornament/tag should be returned to St. Theresa’s narthex or Barber middle school,on or before the weekend Masses on December 10th and 11th.
