What are sacraments?

There are seven sacraments; Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick. For our website purposes we did not include Holy Orders as individual parishes do not offer this sacrament.

Sacraments are actions of which the Church makes use to obtain for us from God, through her intercession, spiritual and temporal favors. The sacraments obtain favors from God through the prayers of the Church offered for those who make use of them, and through the devotion they inspire.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that those who believe in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting. (John 3:14-15)

Baptism: The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of the 3 sacraments of initiation. Once baptised a person becomes a member of the church. To have your child baptised you must be registered parishioners of our church and attend a pre-baptism preparation course to understand  the meaning of Baptism and the responsibilities the parents and godparents will be assuming. Adult baptism is handled through the RCIA program.
